Fashion show fundraiser well supported

The Miss Rodeo Sundre 2017 Fashion Show held Saturday at the arts centre experienced its largest turnout in years.

Event coordinator Arleta Thiessen, who has coordinated the annual fundraiser for about five years, said additional chairs had to be brought out to accommodate the crowd.

“It’s the biggest turnout we’ve had since I’ve been involved,” she said Monday morning over the phone.

“It was a great event.”

More than 100 people attended the fashion show, which featured clothing made available by local as well as regional businesses, she said.

The event raises funds that will help to cover the likes of travel expenses associated with hitting the rodeo trail as the royalty tours around the province and country promoting not only the sport but Sundre and the pro rodeo as well.

As of Monday morning, organizers had not yet been able to determine how much was raised this year.

Former Alberta High School Rodeo Queen and Sundre resident Codi Wilson hit the stage with this year’s 2017 Miss Rodeo Sundre contestants Alisa Brace, from Sundre, and Dana Blasetti, from Medicine Hat.

“The girls had lots of fun,” said Thiessen.
