Special Report - Business Profile Tranquility Day Spa Grand Opening on Sept. 9
The owners of Tranquility Day Spa, located at 206 - Centre Street North, Julie and Shannon are certified estheticians.
"Sundre definitely needs to have more pampering," said Shannon. "Sundre is full of a lot of hardworking people who just don't get these kinds of treatments because they haven't been offered them before. They've had to travel to Calgary, Red Deer or Sylvan Lake to get these kinds of services. Now they have them here."
"Now in a five minute run they can finish work and be here," added Julie.
A grand opening of the Spa will take place on Sept. 9 from noon until 5 p.m. The event will give people a chance to visit the facility and see everything that is being offered. There will be a draw for a pedicure and manicure treatment.
The spa provides relaxation massage, including a stone massage as well as an Indian head massages. They also provide facials, skin resurfacing, pedicures, manicures and paraffin treatments.
One of the highlight features of the spa is a Far Infra-Red Sauna. Julie and Shannon explained the sauna is a perfect way to get rid of unwanted toxins in the body.
FIR saunas kill bacteria below the skin surface making it an excellent treatment for acne, eczema and psoriasis. As well, the rays remove lactic acid from the muscles to prevent muscle soreness from massages or over exertion due to exercise or work environment.
"Headache sufferers will experience relief though detoxification from environmental damage such as cigarette smoke or chemical exposure," they said. "Poor circulation is increased to help people who suffer from such conditions as fybromyalgia, gout, swollen ankles and hands."
Julie has been an esthetician since 1990, having received her training in England and then on an ongoing basis in Canada.
Shannon has been an esthetician since 1991, continuously upgrading her skills on a yearly basis since then. She has run a small business offering these treatments in her home for the past four years.
Harvey and Wolfe worked together in Calgary for four years and talked about open their own spa and now they have. They opened Tranquility Day Spa in mid-July.
While spa treatments are typically used by women, Shannon and Julie want to encourage men to make use of the facility too.
"We are trying to direct to men as well. There are a lot of men around who wouldn't think of coming through the doors, but would benefit from these services as well," said Julie.
"If they are working around machinery, welding, or any sort of toxic environment, we can detox and get those impurities out of their system," said Shannon.
Tranquility Day Spa has all types of professional products, including from BioStrat, Gehwor, OPI and Oply.
Rocky Mountain Renovations (owner Pete Harvey) did all the construction of the new spa.
"He did everything from constructing the rooms to all the finishing work, creating a beautiful environment from a blank canvas," she said.
